Artist Katy Bowen is helping Mr. Bill & New Orleans!

The weekend of February 11, is the first Mardi Gras parade of the season, the Krewe du Vieux, and Walter Williams  was chosen as the King of the parade.  He is the creator of SNL's Mr. Bill. Katy Bowen worked with him for many years doing both Mr. Bill and also a series of documentaries and public service announcements about New Orleans (his hometown), most of them highlighting the fragility of the city and what needs to be done environmentally, to protect it from natural disasters.  In light of Katrina, the Krewe decided that Walter was the perfect candidate, and he chose Katy as his "consort" for the whole event because of her involvement in all the aforementioned projects.

Read the article about Walter and the parade (it even mentions Katy Bowen briefly).

Pop Culture, kitsch & reality TV becomes a reality!

Siuan McGahan will be filming at the Tyra Banks show with her band, The Renders. The band will be getting a make-over by the American Idol style team and they will be highlighting the fact that they are still rocking out, even while Siuan is 8 months pregnant.

Siuan is the band’s lead vocalist, guitar & the band’s indie promoter. It’s totally hilarious & totally great too. So Funny! In addition, The Renders are endorsing Daisy Guitars.

In addition, there will be on exhibit a selection of monoprints curated by Foundation Projects own Elizabeth Cline, who will be present to answer questions about the artist & handle acquisitions.

Jay Ryan is a Chicago based artist that has been an innovator of hand process methods & DIY techniques for over 10 years. From concept to production, his hand-screened posters are known for the distinctive hand drawn type & whimsical characters that distinguish him as a master of the medium with an overwhelming following of collectors. His idiosyncratic style appeals to people on all levels as great design & artwork.

The monoprints that will be on display are silkscreen collage composites of years of perfecting these techniques and mastering properties inherent in the medium. They are complied from numerous random project screens from Ryan's studio created over a period of years. Prints are pulled based on color, shape and composition & another shape is added. The collages bring the silkscreen into the fine art realm by representing principles of color, shape & form.

Foundation Projects is a curatorial project based in Los Angeles, previously Foundation Gallery in Chicago.
