Gallery Revisited - Artist: CJ Metzger

CJ Metzger creates paintings and mixed media pieces that blend surreal and whimsical imagery under the genre known as Pop Surrealism. Her work transcends basic illustration through narration coupled by compelling intent. Currently there is an increased appreciation for the genre and CJ is becoming a notarized participant in the scene, with a careful and well thought-out approach to her work and an unparalleled dedication to her craft.

In March 2007 CJ's 2 person show with her sister, Miss Mindy, entitled "The Secret Lives of Dolls" was one of the most industrious and well-attended shows of the year. The concept evolved around the notion of women, their friends and relationships in fantastical places and dreams - places close to home and those found in reality as well as in our thoughts. Not to be confused with a feminist ideology, this show relishes the important roles that are inherently feminine while at the same time embracing youth and acceptance.

CJ's new body of work entitled "Saints and Predators" evolves around imagery of the female portrait flanked by characters that represent various pathos of emotions and social dynamics, both good and bad, good and evil, innocent and guilty…
