C. Martino

C.Martino is a Southern California artist creating work that explores the many-layered myths and complexities of living in a paradoxical modern age at the end of history.

Characterized by multi-colored layers, the pervasive use of metal (a nod to his Irish blacksmith ancestors), and an ever-expanding vocabulary of repetitive icons, symbols and graphic elements. Through form and color he conveys the quick glimpses and reflective musings of the paradoxes, dislocation, pop-culture overload, private thoughts and unspoken yearning crowding the modern experience.

Materials and messages common to the urban environment – store signage, graffiti, posters, repaired and repainted walls, pop culture ephemera – permeate recent works, building layer upon layer to create complex topographies expressing the emotional, psychological and spiritual tumult of the modern world.

Martino has become a full-time artist whose work has garnered a dedicated corporate and private clientele. His work hangs in private & public collections throughout Southern California and as far away as Chicago, New York, Boston and Hawaii.
