Fumiko Amano

Fumiko draws much of her inspiration from music & nostalgic memories. She works with diligence, creating series in succession, often times dedicating as many as 10 pieces to a single thought process. She works on canvas, panel & paper, using a variety of medium to generate works of great subtlety with complex delicate layers seen only to the naked eye in close proximity.

Her new work has been in fruition since the early part of 2006 and is a direct result of working while listening to her favorite music, hence the title "Sonic Landscapes". In addition to larger works on panel, there is an array of smaller work on paper that incorporates glue, squiggles in pen, printmaking techniques and squiggly drawings - all reminiscent of her background as a fashion designer.

Fumiko recently curated the film night for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in conjunction with the Robert Rauschenberg. In addition she is one of the founding members and on the board of Pharmaka, a downtown Los Angeles non-profit gallery.
